Fr. Gabriel was raised in the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, in a small parish in upstate NY. From an early age he served in the altar, and later sang in the parish choir. He attended the Synodal School of Liturgical Music at Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, NY, during which time he also began directing parish choirs. After finishing college with undergraduate degrees in Music Theory and Philosophy, he later attended and received a Master of Divinity from St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan, PA. In 2014 he moved to Indianapolis, and in 2015 he was ordained to the diaconate and priesthood. During this time he served as a traveling supply priest, as well as briefly serving as rector of Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in Peoria, IL. In response to the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America receiving a petition from residents in the Indianapolis area for a Russian Church, Fr. Gabriel was given a blessing in October 2019 to start a mission parish which, glory to God, was able to be founded in October 2022, following the pandemic.
